The Power for Growth in Wayne County
Utilities and InfrastructureWayne County benefits from excellent service, reliability, and low rates from RG&E and NYSEG.

An abundant, reliable energy source is essential to growing companies and is available in Wayne County. Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) generates its own power and is investing in a multi-million-dollar program to upgrade systems to assure a plentiful supply of energy in the future.

Special Economic Incentives
Both RG&E and NYSEG (New York State Electric & Gas Corp.) offer negotiated rates to attract new business and to assist existing businesses with facility expansions. The utilities also participate in the Power for Jobs Program administrated by the New York power Authority (NYPA). Wayne County companies may be eligible for low-cost power through the Power Authority.

Businesses can take advantage of funds or loans for energy efficiency programs, electric loan reduction, and research and development incentives through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). This includes environmental and renewable resources.

Business Services
RG&E and NYSEG will perform comparative rate analysis and prepare energy cost estimates for proposed facilities. Technical staff will help determine the optimum voltage and internal distribution system for expansion projects or new facilities, as well as energy efficiency and advice. In addition, they conduct power quality monitoring and analysis within commercial and industrial facilities. NYSEG also helps companies locate potential suppliers and subcontractors, and negotiate energy prices to achieve the most competitive energy prices possible.

Telecommunications
Telecommunications service is provided partly by Frontier Corp. and partly by Verizon. Continuing efforts to upgrade the county's telecommunications network assure companies here of the bandwidth they need to operate effectively and efficiently in today's global economy.
